A Lesson

Heavy rain and floods in the province of Khyber-Pukhtunkhwa on the North-West Frontier of Pakistan have killed hundreds of people and displaced many others. I wonder why disaster upon disaster on this land? I am forced to write this, as I feel I should. So here it is... It really is sad indeed to see how homes were destroyed by the floods due to dam spills, and how people were displaced. I want to share something I was just thinking about after the floods hit my village. Yesterday morning I was told that most of the village was evacuated and people were safe. Before the floods, there was a conflict on lands in my village. All the cousins and brothers and relatives had become enemies and pointing not just fingers but also guns at each other for the sake of lands. They just loved lands and wanted more and more of the inheritance. This is a story of my very close relatives. I am sure they will learn a lesson from whatever happened now. All those lands are now under heavy floods. These wer

A Signboard At A Tailor's Shop

I find this funny... God makes a man, right! But the dress will not make you a gentleman unless you work at becoming a gentleman. You got to be all that it takes to be gentle, inside out. Your character is your dress. The way you talk to others, the way you treat others, the manners and the etiquettes all describe you. Can a donkey ever go on the right path just because he is laden with books containing guidance, and the distinction between right and wrong?

I Am But Flame - "The Blue" by Sobia Nosheen

Have you ever thought about a candle? Have you ever noticed? In the winters, When you sit at night, In your room, When there is no light, You light a candle, It gives you light, It kindles your night, You feel the warmth, You like that flame, For it’s so kind, It burns and burns, All night for you, You take your hands, Close to the flame,You want to catch it, You want to own it, You want to hold it, In your palms, You think it’s caring, You think its warm, But when you take your hands near, To catch the flame, It burns your hands, It can't be yours forever, I am that flame, I give you light, When your nights are not so bright, That’s all I am, A flame to kindle your path, And when there’s day, I will be gone, For I can't stay there forever, I am but flame, That will soon put out. © Sobia Nosheen (20 December 2004) from "The Blue"

Coffee Shot !

Coffee falls into the stomach … ideas begin to move, things remembered arrive at full gallop … the shafts of wit start up like sharp-shooters, similies arise, the paper is covered with ink … ~ Honoré de Balzac I have measured out my life with coffee spoons. ~T.S. Eliot A morning without coffee is like sleep. I had some dreams, they were clouds in my coffee. ~Carly Simon Time for me to have coffee ! :-)

Freedom

Freedom demands courage You may be in a situation where you'd have to be nice to people you really don't like. Being nicer to those who annoy you and they keep annoying you because you have no other choice but to be nice to them out of courtesy. I say it's time you let them know you don't like them. All because you have family terms with them, so you can't actually ask them not to keep poking their noses into your very personal family matters and your life; sounds quite unfair. You are a slave to your own thinking here. Try breaking free and having the courage to ask them not to meddle in your life. When you gather the courage to ask a stronger annoying person to back off, you become a free man. So go get your freedom!

Is Death The End?

Death is not "death". We define death as the end. Death of a person, is not the end of his story. There is no such thing as "the end" for him. Death is a new beginning. It is progress. Progression into a higher state of being. One just has to be open to new experiences. --- Sobia Nosheen

Inner Stillness

"Acceptance of others, their looks, their behaviors, their beliefs, bring you an inner peace and tranquillity -- instead of anger and resentment."

Just A Thought...

Why do people tend to deceive others? What breeds jealousy? Greed! Let me know what you think...
